3DX-RAY AXIS CXi mail screening system selected for Lithuanian government facility

3DX-RAY says its AXIS CXi mailroom screening system has been selected for use at a government facility in Lithuania, as agencies continue to focus on threats delivered through postal and parcel networks, including explosive devices and hazardous substances.

The company said the AXIS CXi uses colour imaging to help operators assess both the shape of objects and the composition of materials. It said organic materials, including explosives, narcotics and chemicals, are highlighted in orange, metals in blue, and inorganic materials in green, with a greyscale mode available for shape recognition.

3DX-RAY said the system is designed to support screening decisions by operators with limited training, aiming to improve assessment speed and accuracy while maintaining mailroom throughput.

The company also claimed the AXIS CXi is the only cabinet mail screening system that fully complies with the UK’s NPSA PAS 97:2021 mail screening standard across specification tests 1–8, including Test 5 for material discrimination.

In addition to imaging features, 3DX-RAY said the system combines a large inspection chamber with a compact footprint, allowing it to screen items beyond standard mail and parcels, including bags and aircraft cabin luggage. It said the unit is fully mobile and intended for deployment across environments such as government offices, corporate headquarters, hotel lobbies, financial institutions and retail locations.

Vince Deery, CEO of 3DX-RAY, commented:

“AXIS CXi was originally developed to bring the advanced colour differentiation technology used in airport baggage screening into the mailroom environment. Since its launch, the system has quickly demonstrated its versatility across a broad range of security applications.

We are delighted to have secured this latest order from Lithuania, further expanding the growing international deployment of AXIS CXi systems. Government organisations face an increasingly complex range of threats delivered through the postal and parcel network, and AXIS CXi provides security teams with the tools they need to detect suspicious items quickly, accurately, and with confidence. This contract reinforces the system’s reputation as a highly effective and adaptable screening solution for organisations where security is paramount.”

The company said the order adds to its footprint in Europe and reflects ongoing demand for screening systems aimed at government and critical infrastructure settings.
