3DX-RAY AXIS CXi selected for Lithuanian government facility mail screening

3DX-RAY says its AXIS CXi mailroom X-ray screening system has been selected for use at a government facility in Lithuania, citing threats including postal bombs, hazardous substances and other prohibited items.

According to the company, the AXIS CXi uses colour imaging to help operators distinguish materials in scanned items. It said organic materials such as explosives, narcotics and chemicals are highlighted in orange, metals in blue, and inorganic materials commonly linked to improvised explosives in green, with an additional greyscale mode for shape recognition.

3DX-RAY said the system has been evaluated using the UK Mail Screening Test Piece (MSTP) methodology, which it described as a recognised approach for assessing imaging performance in mail screening systems. The company said the evaluation includes Tests 1–8 covering factors including resolution, penetration and identifying complex materials within mail items, and that the results are intended to support organisations selecting screening capabilities aligned with PAS 97:2021 principles.

The company also said the AXIS CXi is designed to combine a large inspection chamber with a compact footprint, and can be used to screen mail, parcels and larger items such as bags and aircraft cabin luggage. It said the unit is mobile and intended for deployment across a range of settings including government offices, corporate headquarters, hotel lobbies, financial institutions and retail locations.

Vince Deery, CEO of 3DX-RAY, commented:

“AXIS CXi was originally developed to bring the advanced colour differentiation technology used in airport baggage screening into the mailroom environment. Since its launch, the system has quickly demonstrated its versatility across a broad range of security applications.

We are delighted to have secured this latest order from Lithuania, further expanding the growing international deployment of AXIS CXi systems. Government organisations face an increasingly complex range of threats delivered through the postal and parcel network, and AXIS CXi provides security teams with the tools they need to detect suspicious items quickly, accurately, and with confidence. This contract reinforces the system’s reputation as a highly effective and adaptable screening solution for organisations where security is paramount.”

3DX-RAY said the order reflects demand in Europe for screening systems intended for government and critical infrastructure environments.
