Motorola Solutions has launched a local Australian instance of its Avigilon cloud security platform, positioning the move as a response to growing data sovereignty requirements among enterprises and government.
The company said the locally hosted cloud instance will support access control for the Australian market and is expected to be available in Q4 2026. Motorola Solutions already operates a local cloud instance for Avigilon’s video security offering, and said the access control deployment is intended to complement that service.
The announcement was timed with ASIAL 2026 in Sydney, where Motorola Solutions said it will demonstrate its unified cloud video security and access control offerings. It will also showcase the Avigilon Intercom Touch, described as combining an AI-powered high-definition video camera, multi-credential reader and digital directory for event detection and visitor communications.
Motorola Solutions’ Oceania director Peter Krincevski said locally hosted cloud services are important for sectors such as retail, education, local government and financial services, citing regulatory requirements for onshore data ownership and control.
In the release, the company also outlined how Avigilon’s platform integrates video security and access control, including capabilities such as searching for individuals, vehicles and objects; detecting unusual activity; issuing mobile alerts; and managing incidents through cloud tools.
Motorola Solutions said it has deployments across commercial real estate, residential developments and higher education, and cited Erin Living Technologies in Australia and PodGolf in the UK as examples of organisations using Avigilon’s cloud platform.
