Getac Technology Corporation is expanding its ZX80 range of fully rugged 8-inch tablets in Australia and New Zealand, announcing two new Windows 11 devices, the ZX80W and ZX80W-EX, due to be available from July 2026.

The company said both models are built on ARM architecture and use Qualcomm’s QCS6490 platform. Getac positioned the fanless design as aimed at extended field use, including remote and regional work where access to charging may be limited. The devices include 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256GB of universal flash storage.

Getac said the ZX80W runs Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC, targeting organisations that want Windows compatibility in a smaller, battery-focused form factor more commonly associated with Android devices.

Both models include a 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine and a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, which Getac said supports on-device analytics and automation. The company listed potential use cases including unmanned aerial vehicle flight control in utilities, predictive asset management, and electronic logging devices in transport and logistics, particularly where connectivity is limited.

On durability, Getac said both tablets are MIL-STD-810H and IP67 certified, with vibration resistance and drop resistance up to 1.8 metres. The ZX80W is rated for operating temperatures from minus 29 degrees Celsius to 63 degrees Celsius, while the ZX80W-EX is rated from minus 21 degrees Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. Getac listed weights of 590 grams for the ZX80W and 780 grams for the ZX80W-EX.

The ZX80W-EX includes ATEX/IECEx Zone 2/22 certification intended for use in hazardous or potentially explosive environments, along with additional design features such as thicker display glass, an enhanced back cover, a secure port cover for the main docking connector, and mylar seals on exposed screw covers.

Frank Baldrighi, senior business development manager for Australia and New Zealand at Getac, said: “Frontline teams need secure, reliable access to enterprise systems wherever work happens. The ZX80W series brings the efficiency of Windows on ARM into a compact 8-inch form factor, rugged form factor, helping Australian and New Zealand organisations connect field operations more closely with core IT infrastructure. From everyday fieldwork to hazardous environments, these devices give customers a versatile mobile solution designed to support productivity, security, and performance in demanding conditions.”
