HID has launched the HID Signo Décor, a new flush-mount access control reader aimed at projects where aesthetic requirements compete with physical security and durability needs.
In a media release, HID said architects, specifiers and integrators had been seeking a “Signo-grade” reader suited to high-design spaces without reducing security controls.
The company’s initial model, the Signo Décor Reader 30, is designed to mount flush on European- and China-style back boxes and sit behind a glass face. HID said the reader is rated IK10 for impact resistance and IP65 for indoor and outdoor use, positioning it for high-traffic environments such as lobbies, hotels, transport hubs and mixed-use developments.
“Security should not force a choice between how a space looks and how well it is protected,” said Prabhuraj Patil, Senior Director, Physical Access Control Solutions (PACS) for ASEAN and India Subcontinent, HID.
HID said the Signo Décor uses the same architecture as other readers in the Signo family, including an EAL5+ certified secure element and support for the SIO data model. It also uses Open Supervised Device Protocol for encrypted, two-way monitoring between the reader and control panels.
For mobile credentials, HID said the reader supports Bluetooth and NFC, enabling users to present a smartphone using HID Mobile Access and digital wallet credentials alongside existing access cards.
HID said the reader can be updated and monitored via HID Reader Manager or remotely using HID Linq, with the aim of reducing the need for on-site technician visits for firmware and configuration updates. The company also said the device is available as a module for integration into intercoms, elevators, turnstiles and other access hardware.
The Signo Décor Reader 30 is available in black or white in a 90×90 mm form factor. HID said it is available to order now in Europe, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UAE, with additional model variants expected to become available in other regions later this year.
