Suprema has announced the launch of XPass Q2, a QR/RFID reader aimed at sites handling high volumes of visitors, members and ticket holders.

In a press release dated April 8, 2026, the South Korea-based access control vendor said the device combines native QR and barcode authentication with RFID cards and BLE/NFC mobile credentials in a single reader, with the goal of allowing facilities to manage multiple credential types at the same entrance.

Suprema said XPass Q2 includes a dedicated scanning module intended to improve QR read performance across different lighting conditions and presentation distances, and uses LED indicators and audio feedback to support throughput at busy entry points.

The company also said the device carries an IP65 rating for use in indoor and outdoor environments.

Suprema said the reader works with its BioStar X platform for managing visitor workflows, membership access and ticketing. The company said third-party visitor management and ticketing systems can integrate via BioStar X APIs for workflows including pre-registration, credential issuance, access logging and compliance reporting. Suprema also referenced its CLUe cloud integration platform as an option for supporting dynamic QR use cases.

“QR codes have become the standard credential for visitors and ticket holders, yet most facilities are still running readers that treat QR as an afterthought,” Suprema CEO Hanchul Kim said. “XPass Q2 was designed the other way around delivering the performance and simplicity operators need to confidently manage every user type from a single device.”
