Genetec has announced new access control enhancements to its Security Center SaaS platform, adding features aimed at streamlining daily operations for security teams and supporting organisations moving to cloud-based physical security without replacing existing infrastructure.
The company said the updates include a new “front desk” experience to bring visitor check-in and cardholder access into a single workflow, faster access to common security tasks, expanded intrusion panel support, and optional biometric capabilities.
Francis Lachance, senior director of product at Genetec, said the changes are intended to help security teams modernise while keeping architectural choices and avoiding forced “all-or-nothing” cloud decisions.
A key focus of the release is visitor management. Genetec said front desk staff can manage scheduled and walk-in visits through a unified interface, while access policies determine how visitors are granted access. The company said screening rules can be applied during check-in to verify individuals against external databases and registries, with predefined actions triggered when a match or exception is detected.
Genetec positioned the update as relevant to environments such as schools, healthcare facilities and corporate offices, where reception processes and consistent visitor controls can be hard to standardise across sites.
On hardware support, Genetec said Security Center SaaS can connect existing access control and intrusion hardware using Genetec Cloudlink appliances, allowing organisations to migrate at their own pace. The company also said intrusion support has been expanded for Radionix (formerly Bosch) and Honeywell, with support for DMP scheduled to follow.
Genetec also announced a new integration with SAFR SCAN for facial authentication, describing it as an option for organisations that want biometric verification in addition to, or instead of, physical credentials such as cards or badges.
The company said the new front desk experience is available immediately to all Security Center SaaS users. Expanded intrusion support is available now for Honeywell Galaxy intrusion panels, with DMP support and the SAFR biometrics integration expected by June 2026.
Genetec said it will demonstrate the updated Security Center SaaS at ISC West in booth 13062.
