AMG Systems has achieved official certification for its network device integration with Genetec Security Center, a development that strengthens the role of managed network infrastructure within modern CCTV and physical security deployments.
The certification means selected AMG industrial and commercial-grade Ethernet switches can now be discovered, monitored and controlled directly from within the Genetec Security Center interface. For CCTV buyers and integrators working in multi-site or security-intensive environments, this brings network visibility closer to the video management layer, reducing operational blind spots between cameras, recorders and the underlying IP infrastructure.
As part of the certification, AMG’s 570 and 510 series switches appear inside Genetec Security Center as native entities rather than third-party add-ons. This allows operators to view switch status, receive alarms and interact with key functions without leaving the VMS environment. Capabilities include monitoring switch and port health, managing Power-over-Ethernet delivery, controlling ports and accessing network statistics such as MAC tables and ARP cache data.
Genetec Security Center is widely used in enterprise and critical infrastructure environments where scalability, resilience and unified management are essential. The ability to surface network infrastructure within the same operational console as video, access control and other security systems reflects a broader industry trend toward tighter convergence between physical security and IP networking.
AMG’s Managing Director Steve Clarke said the certification followed close collaboration with Genetec’s technical teams and positions AMG among a relatively small number of switch manufacturers to achieve this level of integration. From a buyer’s perspective, certification through Genetec’s Development Acceleration Program provides assurance that the integration has been evaluated against defined quality and functionality criteria, rather than relying on informal or unsupported integrations.
The integration also enables more proactive network management through Genetec’s automation framework. According to AMG, users can configure rules to trigger alerts, activate contact closures or even shut down ports automatically in response to network events, reducing reliance on manual intervention and speeding response times when faults or anomalies occur.
For CCTV buyers specifying systems in industrial, transport, utilities or large commercial environments, the ability to manage switches as part of the security platform can simplify system design and ongoing maintenance. Network issues are a common root cause of camera outages and performance problems, and tighter visibility can help integrators and end users diagnose faults more quickly.
The certification reinforces the growing importance of managed, security-aware networking in surveillance systems. As cameras increase in resolution and systems scale across sites, the network is no longer just a passive transport layer. AMG’s Genetec-certified integration reflects how switch infrastructure is increasingly expected to be observable, controllable and aligned with the operational needs of modern CCTV platforms.
