Permaconn has announced at the Security Exhibition & Conference in Sydney this week a smart security service that allows monitoring of any video surveillance camera. Designed specifically to address installer challenges in both the commercial and residential security installations, Video IQ creates new streams and intended with a monthly recurring revenue.

The Video IQ service integrates with video surveillance camera systems and allows to run it independently and not relying on customer networks.

“Security installers face real technical challenges converting unmonitored cameras into fit for purpose solutions,” said Kendall Paix, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Permaconn.

“Video IQ makes smart video services simple and fast to deploy by removing technical barriers that slow projects down and ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure, or easy and cost-efficient incorporation into new installations,” he adds.

“Importantly, by taking a cloud-first approach, Video IQ makes high quality video verification widely available by eliminating the need for high cost edge computing devices used in other solutions.”

Permaconn’s CEO, Andrew Pears, adds, “Video IQ is designed to deliver real-time visual intelligence in moments that matter. It’s more than just a camera feed, it’s about enabling faster, smarter decisions when every second counts.

“In addition, with many installers experiencing a lower level of activity following last year’s 3G switch off, Video IQ provides installers with an ability to increasing monthly recurring revenue through value-added services, while monitoring centres gain an ability to make more intelligent decision in shorter timeframe, with a direct increase in protection offered to monitoring customers.”

Video IQ operates through Permaconn’s cloud platform and ISO27001-certified private network, delivering 99.99% uptime reliability. Video clips are sent directly from cameras to monitoring centres via Permaconn’s network.

Already deployed with leading Australian businesses in the pharma and building & construction sectors, Video IQ has broad applications across diverse industries including gyms, retail, warehouses, and property management.

Permaconn is showcasing Video IQ at the Australian Security Industry Association Limited’s (ASIAL) Security Exhibition & Conference, stand U12, at the ICC in Sydney from 27-29 August 2025.
