Genetec has released Cloudrunner Mobile, a companion app for its Cloudrunner vehicle-centric investigation system, giving law enforcement and security teams mobile access to vehicle data, alerts and hotlists. The app is designed to extend Cloudrunner’s capabilities beyond the control room, enabling officers and investigators to use the system directly in the field.
Cloudrunner collects vehicle information using automatic license plate recognition and analytics tools, storing evidence securely in the cloud for authorised searching and review. Users can filter data by plate number, make, model, colour and other characteristics, and correlate information from different cameras to support investigations. The platform is built on privacy-by-design principles, with encrypted storage, role-based access controls and retention policies managed by the agency.
Cloudrunner Mobile brings these capabilities to smartphones and tablets. Personnel can use biometric login to conduct searches, receive alerts and manage hotlists. Searches can be narrowed using geo-location filters, allowing officers to focus on cameras and areas within a specific radius of their current location — a feature aimed at speeding up queries while on patrol or responding to incidents.
The app also supports real-time push notifications for hotlist activity. Notifications include key information such as plate number, issuing state and hotlist category, allowing faster field responses. Users can pause notifications when off duty, with recent alerts retained in the app for later review.
Larry Legere, Commercial Director for Genetec Cloudrunner, said the mobile app provides secure, real-time access to vehicle intelligence, improving decision-making and response times. Early adopter feedback from the Hopkins, Minnesota Police Department highlighted the benefit of receiving immediate, at-a-glance alerts during active operations.
Cloudrunner Mobile is available now for Cloudrunner customers in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada through the App Store and Google Play.
